About the work
"Stability" is an original small-scale sculpture, in which an unexpected union of forms shifts the familiar sense of balance. The work stands out for its distinctive sculptural language and subtle irony.
History
Stability is usually associated with clear support and a reliable structure. Yet can form itself refute what we expect of it?
In the sculpture, an egg, human feet and a crown form a single yet paradoxical figure. Each element keeps its recognisability, but together they create a new character in which seriousness meets playfulness.
"Stability" opens up the relationship between balance, the unexpected and apparent contradiction. Rather than offering a definition of stability, the sculpture invites us to look at it from a different angle.
Combination ideas
The sculpture comes into its own in a visually uncluttered space – on a shelf, a console or a desk. Side lighting brings out the nuances of the chamotte surface and the texture of the crown, while the dark wooden base emphasises the silhouette of the sculpture and the unity of its form.
Occasion
For a personal art collection | A gift for someone beginning a new chapter in life | A gift for someone who appreciates subtle irony
