ABOUT THE WORK

A painting with a ceramic miniature, in which a small-scale porcelain form is framed in a contrasting black and white frame. The circular miniature, centered in the center of the composition, becomes the main point of view, and the restrained framing highlights its scale, surface, and fragile presence.

History

The pomp of the painting is visually focused on the miniature in the center. The dark inner plane, the white passepartout border, and the black frame create a clear, symmetrical structure in which the miniature stands out as the only major accent. Such a solution focuses the gaze and allows the small form to act with full intensity.

The ceramic miniature here is not just a decorative insert. It functions as an independent image, placed in a strict, almost architectural system. The round shape brings softness, and the black and white frame gives it calm and clarity. The sensitivity of the surface, the small scale and the careful presentation create a tension between the fragile material and the stable structure.

CARE OF CHAMOMILE SCULPTURES AND INTERIOR DECORATIVE ITEMS

Fine-grained chamotte sculptures, due to their often more porous, often unglazed surface, are more sensitive to abrasion, dirt absorption, and improper wet cleaning; the most important prevention: dry cleaning.

Precious metal lusters (gold, platinum, palladium, etc.) have a thin overglaze coating, fired at a lower temperature, and are therefore more vulnerable to abrasives and friction; it is recommended to maintain such decors gently, by hand, without scrubbing.

MATERIAL PROPERTIES

Chamotte is a high-temperature fired and crushed clay material that is mixed into the mass. It reduces drying/firing shrinkage, helps dry more evenly, and can increase resistance to thermal stresses (especially in larger-shaped items), but can also leave the surface with a more porous and "receptive" texture (especially if unglazed).

This maintenance is intended for fine-grained chamotte sculptures, interior decor items (often more massive forms), which may be unglazed or partially/glazed.

CLEANING

Dry cleaning (basic method): remove dust with a soft brush and „drive“ it into a vacuum cleaner with minimal suction. Do not use rough cloths - this increases the risk of scratches and fading of the decor.

Wet cleaning only exceptionally: „washing“ or soaking is not recommended – especially if there is porosity, old repairs or unclear condition. If it is necessary (e.g. sticky dirt), consult a specialist first.

Gilding/luster is a thin overglaze layer, easily damaged by abrasion and will wear away over time if not properly maintained.

We contacted this artist at the very last minute, after seeing her work at an event in Vilnius. We were going to warn her that we had very little time and that we might not have enough time to fulfill the order. But everything went smoothly, day after day. We received the order at the agreed time, very beautifully packaged. In addition to the gift, we also received a beautiful postcard on which we wrote our wishes for the anniversary. Both we and the anniversary girl were satisfied. I recommend this person with all my heart!
