Before the name RAMUNĖS nameilė came into being, I had to walk a long path, not always a straight one. It was a time when I learned to tame new creative turns and step, gradually, into the inexhaustible field of artistic creation.
I was looking for my own path. I considered the professions of a teacher, a scientist, and many related activities. I was looking for creativity where, it seemed, everything had been structured and decided long ago. I always demanded more from myself than was expected. Maybe that is why I am where I am today.
My first encounters with art came in a completely unexpected form. During my doctoral studies, I encountered various scientific disciplines. Education and psychology provided a solid foundation, but it was philosophy and anthropology that fundamentally changed the direction of my thinking.
It was in these disciplines that I encountered art, as an integral part of human existence. The statements I heard here were –
„Language is a social art” [Willard Van Orman Quine]
„All messages are composed of signs” [Ferdinand De Saussure]
„Art is a form of life” [Richard Eollheim]
„Intuition goes in the direction of life” [Henri Bergson]
„To see the world, we must avoid taking it for granted” [Maurice Merleau-Ponty]
and many others... forced me to review, rethink, and experience everything I had experienced up until that moment in a different perceptual reality.
Now I think that it was then that my first intentions for art were born. They awakened the timid creator in me, still waiting for the right moment.
At first, creativity was the closest form to me
In 2014, I defended my doctoral dissertation, which captured the first HOUSE leitmotif. At that time, it was still very far from its current form, but this symbol was already talking to me back then - I just didn't know how to talk to it yet.
Later, sets of methodological tools were born for children and the educators who educate them. When these works began to live an independent life, and I received a lot of encouraging feedback, I decided to take another step - to write a fiction book for children. And here in my work, HOUSE archetype.
At that time, I began to clearly understand that intuitive thinking often takes precedence over logical thinking. In order to take from life what it gives you, you must go „outside“ so that you can freely look at what is happening „inside“. Simply put, it is necessary to be open to what does not always seem obvious.
And what is self-evident?
Many things are easiest for me to explain through the prism of existentialism. External tasks often seem clear and unchanging, but the existential basis is almost always the same. We try to free ourselves from the feeling of guilt without delving into its true causes. We dig ourselves out of loneliness, but we do not dare to change our state. We look for those to blame, but we do not always want to take responsibility for the extent to which we control our own lives. There is nothing human that is not emotionally connected to our own experiences.
Nameilė - what is it?
RAMUNĖS nameilė was born from a long path, of search, study, and a creative impulse that matured quietly over time. My relationship with art took shape where philosophy, anthropology, and lived human experience meet. It was there I understood: art is not an object, it is a way of being in the world.
RAMUNĖS nameilė is a combination of two Lithuanian words: house and love. These are the two driving forces behind everything.
Love, according to M. Scheler, allows the layers of experience to unfold that lead to the joy of knowledge.
Home is a place we carry in our senses. It is the softest, most sensitive moments of experience: the rustle of bed linen, a recognizable smell that instantly transports us to an inner space. It is a unique, personal combination of memories, feelings, and experiences, sometimes perceived even unconsciously.
Encounters, words, and the stories that emerge from them are very important to me. As a creator, I seek stories – because in creativity, the most important thing is not the form, but what lies behind it.
Therefore, I boldly say: each piece of jewelry I create is unique not only in its visuals, but also in its story. It is a unique story that becomes an integral part of the work. And when it meets the one for whom it was intended, a unity of home and love is born.
RAMUNĖS nameilė – art jewelry was born as an idea in which the most important thing is not aesthetics, but sensation. After all, we all have things whose value lies not in form, but in emotion, association, memory. This is how a connection is created between personal experience and its visual representation.
The goal of every piece of jewelry I create is to tell a story to the casual observer. Therefore, for me, jewelry is first and foremost an artifact that embodies experience. And when given a symbolic form, it also becomes visually impactful.
