About the work
„"Recognizable" is a small sculpture that explores the boundary of recognition: a person is recognized not only by appearance, but also by posture and internal structure. The mask motif here is not a sign of concealment. It becomes a symbolic form through which identity takes on another level of recognizability.
History
Although recognition is most often associated with the face, the face is not a fixed part of identity. It changes, represents, and bears witness to a state. This sculpture shifts the emphasis of recognition elsewhere – to the inner posture, the concentration of the body, the presence that persists even when the external form changes.
There is no character or role at the center of the work. A state is at work here. It is related to a person's ability to remain themselves when the usual signs of recognition become insufficient. The animal form does not distance a person from their essence, but rather expands the perception of them. It reminds us that human identity is not only rationally perceived or socially defined. It retains vigilance, instinct, protection, and inner caution. This is not an opposition to humanity, but one of its forms of existence.
This is a work about the resilience of identity. About the inner axis that persists even when the image is not the main evidence of recognition.
Combination ideas
The work is intended for a space where the art object can act as a point of reflection. The sculpture fits in a space where the meaning of the objects is important, not decorativeness: in a personal library or study.
